Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Engineering AutoCAD Technician to support our engineering and design team. The successful candidate will prepare, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, site plans, and construction documents using AutoCAD and other design software. This role requires strong technical drafting abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, surveyors, and project managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare civil engineering drawings, including site layouts, grading plans, utility plans, roadway alignments, stormwater systems, and other infrastructure details.
- Revise and update drawings based on engineer, surveyor, or client feedback.
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with company, client, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Convert survey field data and engineer’s sketches into accurate CAD plans.
- Collaborate with engineers to prepare construction documents, exhibits, and permit submittals.
- Organize and manage drawing files, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and version control.
- Support design staff by producing quantity takeoffs, profiles, cross-sections, and other technical details.
- Assist with coordination between civil engineering, architectural, and other design disciplines.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or technical diploma in drafting, civil engineering technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD & AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred).
- Experience in civil site design, utilities, grading, or transportation projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of drafting standards, engineering terminology, and construction documents.
- Ability to interpret survey data, engineering sketches, and specifications.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Skills (a plus):
- Knowledge of GIS, MicroStation, or Revit.
- Experience with stormwater modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, HEC-RAS).
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal design standards.
Working Conditions:
